There is no amount of gratitude that would show Ann Elise how appreciative we are of her extensive knowledge and the work she has done with our elementary school teachers, math interventionists, and most importantly our students. Ann Elise was contracted with us for multiple years, and in that short amount of time, she worked with our interventionists and teachers to implement a variety of instructional strategies with our students that allowed them to attain a deep understanding of mathematical concepts that many students struggle with. Her knowledge of student understanding and expectations at each grade level was easily evident at every professional development she led. Ann Elise never shied from demonstrating these instructional strategies–quite the opposite. All of her trainings included going to our elementary schools and into the actual classrooms and running activities with the students and teachers, together. This modeling allowed for a solid understanding of instructional strategies, and teachers always knew the ‘why’ before the ‘how.’  You don’t have to take my word for it, however, as the proof is in the data. Over the past 3 years, which includes data from COVID years, every single one of our 13 elementary schools showed large gains in their mathematical diagnostic scores, with some schools increasing their percentage of proficient students on the i-Ready diagnostic more than 20%.  The gap between our reading scores and our math scores has been closing (which is not the case nationally, nor historically), with multiple schools actually surpassing reading levels, which nationally is a rarity! If you are a teacher, administrator or district that is considering hiring Ann Elise for professional development, I have 2 words for you: DO.IT. You will not regret the decision, and it will be the best decision your district will ever make for your teachers, but most importantly, for your students.

After my son was coming home from school deflated, due to struggling with maths I decided to take things into my own hands. With the support of Ann Elise we staring exploring number relationships with him. After 6 weeks of spending 10-15 minutes with him a day I saw him make more process than he had in 12 months of school. However the icing on the cake was when he came home from school and told me he “was good at maths”.
